ALL
YEAR ROUND
A superb location to
enjoy a variety of outdoor activities...
From the Albion you can enjoy great coastal and countryside
walks, particularly the twelve mile Tennyson Trail, which is a feature of the
West Wight.
While walking is probably the most popular activity on the Isle
of Wight it is by no means the only one. There are many leisure
activities on the Island to provide fun for
all ages. Some may prefer a relaxing leisurely day swimming and sunbathing,
while for the more active, there are superb water sports, mountain biking,
hiking, and more recently people are taking to the air above the West Wight
with hang gliding and paragliding - now that's relaxing!

Freshwater Bay
Golf Club, an 18-hole links course is only a 'drive' away from the Albion where guests can enjoy reduced green fees.
Freshwater riding stables are all within easy reach of the Albion and anglers
can try their luck in Freshwater
Bay.
Discover the secret
charms of the Isle of Wight and a hotel
steeped in four centuries of history.
Use the Albion for an all year round holiday
or as a base to explore this interesting and beautiful Island. The
Isle of Wight has a fascinating history that attracts an extremely wide range
of interests. Famous inventors, poets, artisans, royalty and industrialists
have lived here. They were attracted not only by its season, climate and
landscapes, but also because it had a slower pace of life.
One famous 'islander'
was the poet laureate Alfred Lord Tennyson who rented Farringford
Hall in Freshwater in 1853. He liked the Island so much that he bought the
building with the profits from one of his poems!Tennyson's
name lives on today, as the name given to the Islands southern Heritage
Coast, which includes the famous Needles peninsula that is adjacent to the
Albion. A short walk takes you to the Julia Margaret
Cameron Photographic
Museum, which displays
her famous Victorian photographs.
Wars, royalty and
maritime history have left the most significant places of interest to
explore; Osborne House - Queen Victoria's
home - Carisbrooke
Castle, where Charles 1 was
imprisoned, and numerous fortresses to protect the Isle
of Wight from French invasions. Not forgetting of course, Cowes for its colourful
history as the home of world yachting.
The Isle of Wight has more places of
interest per square mile than anywhere else in the country.
Leave plenty of time to explore when you book your activity holiday or
leisure break at the Albion ..... at any time of the year!
